More than 700 animals have been transferred into our care through our Animal Transport Program so far this year. Because most of them come from areas without access to veterinary care, they need medical and behavioural support. By giving a gift today, you can change the lives of these animals as they wait for their forever homes. Here’s how donations supported an adorable 2-year-old Retriever and Labrador mix named Rally.
Rally could not contain his excitement when he arrived at our doors. His tail was wagging, his tongue was sticking out, and he was meeting and greeting as many humans as possible as he came off the transport truck.
But this energetic pup had to take it easy because he tested positive for heartworm, hookworm, and tapeworm. Because of his heartworm, Rally is on a limited exercise routine. This has been extremely difficult for a dog like Rally who wants to run, play, and run some more.
Our training team developed a plan to help increase his mental enrichment while he’s receiving treatment. He is learning new tricks, such as “sit”, “down”, “stay”, and “drop it”, and getting tons of “sniff time” while out on walks to encourage self-soothing behaviour. He is also enjoying kennel enrichment time through the use of interactive toys like puzzle feeders and kong toys
Rally can’t wait to show off his new tricks to his family when he finally finds them. He is currently available for adoption.
With just a few clicks, you are changing the lives of thousands of animals. By donating today, you are helping us increase our lifesaving capacity and life changing services, such as our Animal Transport Program and shelter training services. Without these services, many animals like Rally may never be able to get the support they need to become healthy and happy.
Donate today for #GivingTuesdayCA and your donation will be tripled thanks to a generous donor and AIG Canada. They will be matching your gifts up to $5000 each.
