TORONTO, ON – November 12, 2024 — Toronto Humane Society is celebrating Taylor Swift’s arrival with a unique tribute: a group of adoptable shelter cats named after some of her most famous songs, albums, and lyrics. This special group includes “Folklore,” “Evermore,” “Red,” “Midnights,” “Willow,” “Marjorie,” “August,” and even “Champagne,” along with characters like “Swiftie” and “Cornelia.”
The animal charity just welcomed seven newly transferred kittens into their care. Named “Reputation,” “Travis,” “Kelce,” “Dorothea,” “Benjamin,” “Taylor,” and “Karma,” these little ones bring even more charm to the Taylor-inspired group!
In addition to her hit songs and albums, cats have also been named in homage to Swift’s iconic lyrics and signature themes, creating a shelter full of ‘Swiftie’ spirit. From “Cardigan” to “Willow,” each cat offers Swift’s fans a chance to connect with a piece of her world while supporting a cause she loves. By adopting one of these Swift-inspired cats, fans can honour Swift’s legacy as both an artist and an animal lover, giving these cats a loving new home in the heart of Toronto.
To honour Swift’s passion for animals, Toronto Humane Society has launched this campaign to inspire local fans to follow in her footsteps as compassionate pet parents. In an open letter sent to Swift, the organization invited the pop star for an exclusive tour to meet these unique “Swiftie” cats and to help raise awareness for the importance of adopting shelter animals.
Toronto Humane Society has also added a special touch: while Taylor’s in Toronto, they’ll be playing her music through the cat adoption halls, bringing happiness, calm and comfort to the cats and celebrating her arrival.
“We’re thrilled to offer this heartfelt homage to Taylor’s music and her love of cats,” says Melissa Shupak, Director of Animal Sheltering at Toronto Humane Society. “It’s our way of connecting her influence to a meaningful cause and showing her fans a way they can make a real impact here in Toronto.”
As Swift’s fans gather in Toronto, Toronto Humane Society hopes to create meaningful connections between fans and adoptable cats who are ready to bring a bit of “Starlight” to their lives.
Toronto Humane Society is ready to roll out the RED carpet for Taylor and introduce her to these feline super-fans!
