When Shelby first arrived at our shelter, her eyes were constantly watering, and the “cherries” in her eyes—caused by a condition called cherry eye—were rubbing and pressing against them. Cherry eye isn’t just a cosmetic issue. Left untreated, it can lead to chronic irritation, infection, and even vision loss. Shelby needed surgery, but her guardian, a disabled man who depends on Shelby for companionship and emotional support, couldn’t afford the procedure on his own.

Her recovery wasn’t easy. For two weeks, she had to wear a cone, stay indoors, and skip her usual playtime. But Shelby, the resilient and loving pup, handled it all with grace. She never lost her appetite, healed beautifully, and today—she’s back to doing what she loves: running, playing, and sticking closely by her guardian’s side.
