Dear Friends,
As we approach the end of the year—a season of generosity and giving that holds immense importance for charities across the country—we find ourselves navigating a unique challenge that may affect how we connect with you, our valued donors and supporters.
The ongoing Canada Post strike is likely to create significant disruptions for many nonprofits, particularly during this critical time when the largest proportion of annual donations typically comes in. The reality is that the postal delays could prevent important communications, including donation appeals and acknowledgments, from reaching you in time.
We know this will also impact the organizations you hold dear. To adapt, many groups will turn to phone calls, emails, and even text messages to ensure their voices are heard and their missions are supported. While this increased outreach may feel overwhelming at times, we humbly ask for your patience and receptivity. These efforts are not meant to intrude but to ensure charities can continue serving communities, addressing urgent needs, and working toward meaningful change.
At Toronto Humane Society, we understand that this is not the moment to assign blame or foster division. Labour disputes, including this one, are part of a larger process of collective bargaining—a cornerstone of fairness and equality in our society. These processes have value, and while their immediate impacts may feel frustrating, they ultimately contribute to a stronger, more equitable community for everyone.
This year, we ask for an extra dose of kindness, understanding, and compassion. By supporting the causes close to your heart, you help create positive ripples that touch countless lives—whether it’s through providing shelter for animals, supporting families in need, advancing environmental efforts, or strengthening our shared community fabric.
At Toronto Humane Society, we see firsthand the transformative power of generosity. Every dollar, every moment of support, contributes to a brighter future for the animals who share our homes, communities, and lives. This is a time to come together, not only to overcome logistical hurdles but to reaffirm the values that bind us—compassion, empathy, and the unwavering belief that we are better together.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this time. We encourage you to keep an eye out for messages from us and other organizations you support. Together, we can navigate these challenges and finish the year strong—for our communities, our environment, and, most importantly, the animals.
With gratitude and hope,
