Toronto Humane Society’s Public Veterinary Services clinic operates a limited-service veterinary clinic focused on wellness and preventative care. This includes vaccination, heartworm testing and prevention, parasite prevention, and microchipping. We have a two-tier pricing model to make essential preventative veterinary care accessible to all.
One of the best ways to keep your pet healthy is through vaccination. Vaccines protect against infectious diseases that can be serious or even life-threatening. We offer vaccines for dogs and cats through our wellness appointments.
Our clinic offers Rabies, DHPP (Distemper/Hepatitis/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza), Leptospirosis, and Bordetella vaccines for dogs. We do not offer Lyme vaccine. The veterinarian will discuss which vaccines are recommended for your pet based on their age and lifestyle. Please click here for more information and frequently asked questions about dog vaccines.
Our clinic offers Rabies and FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis/Calicivirus/Panleukopenia) vaccines for cats. We do not offer the Feline Leukemia (FeLV) vaccine. Please click here for more information and frequently asked questions about cat vaccines.

We do not currently offer health certificates or completion of documents for international travel. Please click here to find more information about travelling internationally with a pet and to find a Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) veterinarian near you.
Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets. Any dog who spends time outside in areas where there are mosquitoes could be at risk of heartworm disease. We offer heartworm testing and heartworm prevention medication through our wellness appointments. Please click here for additional information and frequently asked questions about heartworm testing and prevention.
Any dog who spends time outside in areas where there are ticks could be at risk of diseases spread by ticks. We offer tick prevention medication and tickborne disease screening tests through our wellness appointments. Please click here for additional information and frequently asked questions about tick prevention and tickborne disease prevention.
We offer many parasite products that treat and prevent fleas.
We offer deworming for roundworms and hookworms as part of our routine puppy and kitten wellness appointments. Many of the parasite prevention products we use also treat and prevent intestinal worms. We do not currently offer screening fecal testing for parasites or treatment for other types of intestinal parasites.
A microchip is a small device implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades that provides permanent identification in case your pet is ever lost. When an animal is found and taken to a shelter or veterinary clinic, one of the first things the staff does is scan the animal for a microchip. If they find a microchip and if the microchip registry has accurate contact information, they can quickly find the animal’s owner. Microchips are often implanted at the time of spay or neuter surgery but can be done at a wellness appointment depending on your pet’s temperament. Please click here for additional information about microchips.

Affordability of pet care is the largest barrier that pet parents face when trying to provide for their animal. For this reason, we operate on a two-tier fee structure to make essential preventative veterinary care accessible to all. Our standard prices are substantially lower than the industry standard and are therefore already more affordable than a private veterinary clinic.
Subsidized pricing is available to individuals with proof of one of the following:
Proof of receipt of one of these programs must be provided at the time of each visit to the clinic and must be registered to the pet owner. For ODSP, OW, GIS, or CPP-D, we require a document that shows your name, what benefit is received, and the most recent statement date. This can be in hardcopy or through the MyBenefits app. For GIS and CPP-D, this is generally a document from the CRA.
To uphold the integrity of our subsidized pricing initiative for First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and ensure that it benefits those within Indigenous communities, we request documentation to verify Indigenous identity.
We accept the following forms of documentation:
If you do not have access to the above-mentioned documentation, please contact us directly at csa@torontohumanesociety.com. We will be glad to support you to ensure that you qualify for this initiative.
Our discounted prices are made possible by our supporters and generous donations from individuals. If you would like to donate to support our program, please sign up to be a monthly donor.
