Feline Behaviour Consultations

We are proud to offer a variety of training classes for you and your cat(s). We are one of the few animal behaviour and training service providers offering expertise in feline behaviour through the guidance of internationally renowned cat expert Dr. Jacklyn Ellis. We are passionate about advocating for, and educating cat owners about humane, compassionate, and fear-free training practices. We pledge our commitment to providing you and your cat(s) with a constructive, supportive, and inspiring environment to help strengthen the human-animal bond!

Virtual Cat Behaviour Consultations and Training Classes

Our behaviour consultations and private training classes are conducted virtually to ensure that your cat does not experience travel related stress. We offer kitten care packages as well as behaviour modification packages to help assess, manage and modify problem behaviours. Our services can also be tailored to meet your training and enrichment needs and we are happy to provide you with guidance on clicker training your cat, enriching your cat, or preparing your cat for stress free veterinary visits and procedures. We offer a variety of single session and packaged sessions to meet your needs.

Leadership

Dr. Jacklyn Ellis, MRes PhD CAAB CSB-C
Director, Behaviour

Jacklyn Ellis is board certified by the Animal Behavior Society as a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, is Certified in Shelter Behavior – Cat by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants and is the Director of Behaviour at Toronto Humane Society. She earned her PhD in Animal Welfare at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, where she conducted research on methods for reducing stress in shelter cats. Her work has been published widely in peer reviewed journals and she has presented at many national and international conferences, particularly on feline stress and elimination behaviour. She has recently completed two chapters for a new edition of the leading textbook on the behaviour and welfare of shelter animals.


Beverley McKee, CDBC, CPDT-KA 
Senior Manager, Public Support Services  

Beverley McKee is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed, and a Fear Free Shelter Graduate. Bev oversees the Public Training and the Pet Parent Support Network programs at Toronto Humane Society and is known as a leader in the field. She has served on the executive leadership board of the IAABC, served a term as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer, and currently volunteers with both the IAABC and the Shelter Playgroup Alliance.  Bev is an avid dog sports competitor and has presented internationally on various animal behaviour topics. 

Our Team

Our team of animal trainers hold a variety of international certifications through prestigious organizations such as The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, The International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, The Karen Pryor Academy, Fear Free Pets and Family Paws. We offer many years of experience working with thousands of pet parents and their pets on both proactive training and behaviour modification training. We have extensive experience working with shelter animals to prepare them for their forever homes, and aim to provide pet parents with an empathetic, evidence-based and results-oriented approach.
