It was a year ago when Foxy adopted my wife and I. After a few years of considering bringing a fur-friend to our household, we finally went down to the THS to do just that.

Foxy’s was the first cage we visited and she immediately responded by rubbing her head against my fingers through the cage. Even as we continued to visit other cats, our thoughts kept drifting back to Foxy. Then when we asked to spend a few minutes with her later on, she came to us right away again and gave us lots of head butts. That sealed the deal and it was on with the paperwork.

However, it was not until when we got home and Foxy poked her head through the carrier that we realized what an incredible beauty she is—oh those big round green eyes!

In the ensuing 12 months we found Foxy to be sweet, silly, gentle, patient and extremely well mannered. And she is so soft that she’s like a plush doll! She’s not quite a lap cat but she’s plenty affectionate in other ways, such as lying next to or on top of me on weekend mornings. She is also constantly giving up her belly for scratches.

She was very quiet and reserved when she first arrived but over time she has become much more vocal and assertive, and she has claimed the entire house as her kingdom! For the past few months she has been running into the laundry room (which is connected to our garage) to greet us whenever we come home, and then she would follow us everywhere we go.

Having Foxy in our home has brought so much joy and happiness to us that we can’t imagine life without her.

Lesson learned—come out and adopt!!
