Chibi

Chibi

February 28, 2019

The first week with Chibi (aka Trigger) was great!

The first two days I had a makeshift bed on the ground and slept on the floor near him at night and that helped us bond really fast! Within the first few hours of bringing him home he met my then only other cat, Pumpkin. It took them a few weeks to really click and get along, but I’m happy to say that each day their friendship grows and they are good friends now! Chibi will follow Pumpkin around like her shadow. He’s never more than two feet away from her. Anything she does, he has to do too; when Pumpkin naps, Chibi naps, when she runs around, he runs around, when she looks outside the window, he looks outside the window.

6 months before Chibi came along we had another kitty but he passed away from heart complications and it shattered our hearts. Pumpkin was clearly in a depression that was making her more nervous, specifically with loud or unfamillar sounds, and scared when she was/thought she was alone. Chibi, our new loving boy, has helped bring Pumpkin out of her shell and every day she’s becoming more confident in general and less nervous.

Chibi is growing into a curious, confident, playful, vocal, cuddly boy. With any kitten there was a learning curve but he is a really smart boy who has learned how to sit, stand up, come over, and not to poop in my plants.

I am so happy that I met this little kitten, he is the perfect little guy for Pumpkin and I and we love him very much.

Thank you Toronto Humane Society for all the work you do!

Cali

Cali

I adopted Cali just over 2 years ago from the Toronto Humane Society. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

She means so much to me and brightens up my life every day. She was such a scared little dog at first. Then she came out of her shell more and more as time went by. She came from California and I’m so grateful to you guys at the Toronto Humane Society for all that you do, including bringing dogs from all over into your care.

Thank you for bringing Cali into my life.

Ivy

Ivy

February 28, 2019

I took home Ursala, renamed “Ivy,” from the cat shelter on February 16 and she could not be happier! Right when we opened the box she poked her head out, jumped out of the box and started curiosly circling her new home. We tried to keep her in a sanctuary room but she was just too friendly and curious what was on the outside. She never hid, got scared or even questioned what was going on. It’s safe to say she was right at home.

She was a little cautious with being pet the first day and would only let you sneak in a few pets when you played with her. Now, she is fully adapted and is running around the house chasing her ball, playing with her favourite wand, sitting on the window ledge, looking out the window, sleeping in her bed and cuddling. She’s so well behaved and doesn’t get in trouble and when she does do something like try to eat human food, a firm no and she will stop. She is very sweet and relaxed. She is also fully comfortable with anyone in the apartment right away with no buffer time, including a 3 year old we had over that was playing with her.

She loves to be pet and will lick you to let you know. She’s a total suck and follows us around the house everywhere we go and when we go out and come back she’s always waiting for us and meows to ask where we were.

She’s so precious and seems so happy and we love her!

Max

We are so very happy and I think Max (aka Jethro) is very happy as well! He’s exactly what we wanted and our love for him grows stronger everyday. We couldn’t be more happier to get such an amazing fur baby. He gets walks 3 times a day (the family takes turns). We are still trying to introduce our cat Charlie and know this will take some time, but until then we will enjoy them separately. Thank you THS so much for all you do, he is our perfect companion. If I could though I’d take them all.

Ash and Sabrina

Ash and Sabrina

February 13, 2019

Six months ago, we adopted pair of cats that bonded together while at THS - Ash and Sabrina. Because they were both rescued from off the streets, they were incredibly shy when we took them home. The first few weeks were a struggle, I admit, as we worried whether we were doing the best we could.

Six months later, I am excited to say that they are now happy and comfortable with us! Ash, our beautiful slate-grey boy, has learned to love getting his bum scratched, getting his fur brushed, and playing with toys. He’s a real charismatic little fella! Sabrina, our little tabby girl, is shyer and still wary of physical contact. However, she will show us her belly, eat in front of us, and accept treats. A particularly momentous thing happened today: Sabrina ate some treats directly out of my hand, and even licked my fingers after! What a long way she’s come from hiding in the most inaccessible spots she can find.

Although these two didn’t meet each other until they were brought to THS, they are definitely brother and sister now—eating together, sleeping together, grooming each other, and more. We are so pleased to have given them a loving home and the chance to experience some security and stability. We’re so honoured to have earned their trust. Here’s to many happy years ahead!

Caramel

Caramel

February 11, 2019

We adopted caramel about 6 weeks ago. She started out very scared of us and not wanting too much attention. Now everyday we hang out after work. She LOVES bananas and she loves being pet! She likes to play “stick” and throws her ball for me to catch. She is settling in well and has even found her own spot on the couch.

Juniper

Juniper

February 08, 2019

We adopted Juniper (then named rapunzel) on November 11, 2018. She instantly stole our heart.

Within 3 days of bringing her home, Juniper fell gravely ill with a bad respiratory infection. She battled bravely and won the fight (with the help of lots of medicine) a week later!

Since then she has been getting bigger and more energetic by the day! She is now almost 5 months old and enjoys eating, playing, running around, sleeping on us, terrorizing our other cat, and just generally being cute as a button!

She shows us the joy of living in the moment every day, our hero. Oh ya! She plays fetch better than most dogs, there is video proof!

Thanks THS for providing such an important service to the city of Toronto.

Mandu

Mandu

February 05, 2019

In honour of our one year adoptaversary we thought we’d give an update on Mandu (formerly known as Thomas)! From day one he was an affectionate sweetheart, and he quickly adapted to his new home. He is super mellow, and only his nemesis the vacuum can move him from any of his favourite spots. He loves being brushed and getting belly rubs any time of the day!

Though mellow, he is actually a very talkative kitty! He loves to chat and is certainly vocal about his needs. He loves watching birds, squirrels and people from his window perch. When he’s feeling playful he’ll even play fetch!

Mandu was a bigger guy when we adopted him, but we are happy to report he is no longer overweight and is staying healthy! For anyone curious, Mandu is dumpling in Korean! We thought it fit this sweet, fluffy guy perfectly!
