Juliet

Juliet

January 10, 2017

In July 2016, we had gone to the THS in hopes of finding a suitable playmate and companion for our resident rescue kitten, Solo, who had gotten to be quite the aggressive little handful. We noticed three-month old Juliet (formerly Azrail) and her brother, Rondel, right away because they were the rowdiest kittens in the whole building. Admittedly, we had been hoping to adopt Rondel who was very handsome, curious and talkative in their kennel, but he was on hold for someone else. We noticed, however, despite being remarkably small and bow-legged, Juliet was feisty and fast. She fought her brother back and would playfully pounce on him from her hiding spot in the corner. She seemed like a good fit for our wild little rescue at home and we are ridiculously happy to have her as a part of our family today.

Despite our efforts to contain Juliet in the room we had set up so that she could be slowly integrated into our household, Juliet had managed to escape (she was so small, she would just slip around everything) and introduced herself to Solo the night of her arrival. To our surprise, the two kittens got along right away. By Juliet’s third day home, she was snuggling with her new older brother on the bed. Now, the two are completely bonded. Juliet follows Solo wherever he goes, and wants whatever he has. Solo frets when he can’t find her, and meows until she comes out. They play together all the time, and prefer to nap cramped together on Solo’s old cat-bed even though there are lots of bigger, plushier places to sleep all over the apartment.

Juliet is such a cute, friendly and happy little joy. We are grateful to have found such a perfect addition at the THS - thank you, thank you!

Carl Sagan

Carl Sagan

January 08, 2017

Hello! I thought I’d send along an update about Carl Sagan (previously called Caramel). I adopted him in July after falling in love with his picture on the website. When I visited Carl at THS, he was the only piggy making noise and was super spunky. He’s still very chatty and energetic and has gotten less skittish. He loves floor time with Neil (my other piggy) and popcorning around his cage. He goes wild for green pepper and demands his veggies like clockwork every morning (no need for an alarm clock anymore). I love him lots and I’m grateful to THS for helping me give him a home.

Now 7 months old, they’re both doing very well, though Fergie has grown much larger than her sister, Holly.

We adopted Candy (now known as Kiki) on December 24th and I just wanted to let you know how well she is doing! She settled in pretty quickly and she has been gradually becoming more confident and sassy with us all the time. There have been a few small challenges, but mostly a lot of purring, playing and fun times. She is fabulous and we are enjoying her so much.

Thank you again,

Ella

Charlie (formerly Tim) is a super dog-cat. He’s a very sociable, talkative & loving cat. He always likes to be close by, likes to ‘keep an eye’ on what’s going on in his world. and enjoys a game of peek-a-boo. This handsome boy’s sweet disposition and laid-back personality has attracted many fans.

Hi Mitch, anyways I hope you remember us ( Tom & Brian ), we came in December 23rd/2016 and had the pleasure of meeting yourself and ended up adopting Sleepy. We just wanted to update you and show you a couple of photos of Sleepy, enjoying her new ” forever ” home and settling in. We simply love the little girl, she has added a new spark to our home and I think she is happy as well, she is quite energetic, has a voracious appetite, loves to play and much to my amazement, actually has started sleeping in my bed with me most nights.

We actually have two other cats ( Kaboodle and LitoMonster ), and as a whole they seem to get along, most times with little interference from us. Anyways Mitch, on behalf of Brian and myself, thank you, to you and all the great staff, for allowing us to adopt Sleepy ( or she adopted us !!!.. lol ) and we look forward to many years of just ” living/enjoying ” the time we will spend together as a family of sorts.

Take care & all the best for 2017

Tom & Brian

Hi THS,

Happy New Year!

A quick update on our kids:

Our daughter Bunsen Honeydew (adopted 2015, formerly known as Tashia) and Alfie (adopted 2016, still known as Alfie), are doing great and they give us such a happy home. They’re our world and we love them so much.

Here they are, facing off, in a cute and loving way.

Thank you, THS, for our lovely kids.

Balto

Balto

January 02, 2017

Hi there,

And a Happy 2017 from a family full of two happy cats, two happy dogs and two happy humans!

We adopted our latest family member “Balto” (previously known as Wilbur) only four days ago, but could not possibly imagine our lives without him anymore! He is such a smart and good-natured pup, full of confidence, happiness and loyalty! Our other dog Lucky was a rescue himself, also from your shelter (his name was Furrest then). They both share similar stories: living on the street up north in a native reserve. Maybe that is why they bonded so well and quickly.

Lucky is the best adoptive big brother any pup could have, and Balto follows in his footsteps, literally.

Those two are not the only beautiful souls we found in your shelter, our oldest animal, Diego (previously known as Tobias) comes from there as well, we adopted him 2.5 years ago. He has been in good company of dogs and, since December 2015, of a little kitten Lulu, adopted from a Mississauga shelter.

We are a multispecies family/pack that is full of energy, love and laughter. Thanks so much for all the great work you guys do!!!

Sincerely,

Marion and Ayana. (and of course Diego + Lulu, Lucky + Balto).
