Voodoo & Vixen

August 30, 2016

To whom it may concern,

It is with great pleasure that I wish to tell you that Midnight & Cali, now named Voodoo & Vixen, are doing incredibly well in their new home. What we were told could take weeks to happen, i.e. coming out of their hiding place to play or come out for some love and petting happened within less than 12 hours with Voodoo and 4 days with Vixen. I think that pretty soon they will have the run of our entire place.

We love them to bits!

Your’s truly Daniel and Bonny

Marty Mcfly

Marty Mcfly

August 29, 2016

On May 22nd we adopted a little 4 month old blue budgie named Ginos from you and we thought that we had better get around to e-mailing you with an update.

Ginos (Now named Marty Mcfly) was very skittish of hands and still sometimes, and he had a bit of a wonky wing when we got him which caused him a little trouble when flying (he wasn’t able to steer properly). However, once we had him out of his cage he would sit on us for hours on end unless our hands got close. He is much better with hands now but still prefers to fly in and out of the cage on his own terms during his daily free flight time. Since he was such a young little guy we found ourselves taking in not only him but my mother’s 5 year old green budgie hen Cleo and after 5 weeks of quarantine in different rooms we slowly introduced them and they took to each other right away. They cheered each other up so much and really brought each other out of their shells. They love flying together, feeding each other, preening each other and playing together in and out of the cage and they have the most animated conversations! Marty’s wing is all better now and he’s a beautiful flyer. He can turn on a dime now and excels in doing flybys at peoples heads, all he had to do was go through his first molt. We just want to thank everyone at the humane society for the great work you do. I think more emphasis should be placed on the little more “disposable” pets and am glad that the Toronto Humane Society helps all animals, big and small.

Thank you from,

Kimberly & Darren

Bailey

Bailey

August 26, 2016

We adopted Bailey from the Toronto Humane Society on August 18th 2002. He was a lost, nameless puppy and as soon as we saw him we knew he was to be part of our family. Although unconfirmed, Bailey was thought to be part German Shepherd, part Collie. He was gentle, loving, graceful (most times), and a best friend to the whole family. He truly fit in and was by our side for 14 years. Bailey parted us on August 20th 2016. Although he is not physically with us he will live forever in our hearts. Here’s to you my good friend, and here’s to seeing you once again.

Thank you Humane Society for giving us our Bailey. He was meant to be with us.

Good morning! A note from Wesley who was adopted June 2015:

Hi, everyone! It’s me, Wesley! I was adopted over a year ago. I’ve been living it up in my double cage with lots of tunneling. In my old age my owner has encouraged me to explore more by leaving the cage door open to their hamster-proof room with a strict shuffle-step policy. I mostly just run over to my maze and sleep though, ha ha! My nails grow really fast so I see my vet a lot to get a trim. The staff loves me and says I’m the tamest hamster they’ve handled. I’m the best!

When I don’t like something I put it in my litter. Sometimes the item is too big but I still try! My owner thinks I’m the cutest when I’m frustrated - hmph! I have many toys but my favourite is the under-fluff cave my owner buries. I always find it! I feel most at home there. I love climbing too!

Thanks to the THS for taking me in all the way from Montreal. I am healthy, happy, and very loved. Yatta!

Hello!

I wanted to thank everyone at the THS for introducing me to Matthew (formerly Meteor). It’s been two weeks now and he has settled in surprisingly well.

I was warned that he may show signs of aggressiveness, but besides a few incidents with my dog, he has been incredibly sweet. He loves to be petted and has been known to come over just to give kitty kisses and cuddles.

He’s really social—with both humans and my other cats—and seems to be thrilled to have a home to call his own again. Even though he’s not fond of the dog, he still comes to curl up with the pack (comprising 4 cats, 1 small dog and 1 totally pet-whipped human) on the couch.

I’m so glad to have adopted him. He has been a great addition to the family, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he grows as he becomes more settled.

Thanks again, THS!
Tara

Hello! My name is Oreo (formerly Vyster) and I was adopted by my new mom at the end of July 2016. I LOVE my new home. I get to sit on my cat perch by the window and watch the birds and squirrels at the bird feeder. I am such a chill guy, always up for a chin scratch or playing with my cat toys! I am becoming more snuggly with people and let them know when I’ve had enough petting by walking away. No hissing or scratching for this mellow kitty! Thank you so much to the THS for taking such good care of me while I was with you.

I brought Benji home just three days ago, and I was amazed by how quickly he adapted! As soon as I let him out of the crate he was tearing about the apartment, exploring every nook and cranny! He’s a wild little ball of energy - he usually wakes up to play around six and is still going strong when I leave for work two hours later - but he loves a good cuddle too, and he likes to curl up next to me for naps. I couldn’t be happier to have Benji join my home!

Odin

August 22, 2016

This is Jameson Bowman last October I adopted a german shepherd/husky puppy named Brennen (now Odin). At the time I wasn’t looking for a puppy as I thought I couldn’t handle it but you advised me I’d be great for him given my active lifestyle and experience with dogs. After I adopted him I had a lot of anxiety about it almost returned him but you and the other staff were great in supporting me and giving me confidence. After almost a year I am very happy to say that Odin is the best thing that ever happened to me and I have never regretted a single moment since he came into my life. I always tell my friends and family how great the THS staff all are and how you helped me realize and achieve what I really wanted for a companion. You guys knew what was best even when I didn’t.

Anyways I just wanted to drop a line and let you doing we are doing well and he is perfectly healthy and happy.

Hi Toronto Humane Society team!

We wanted to give you a little update on how Rocket (we named him Leo!) is doing. The first night he came right out of his carrier and went straight under the bed. He stayed there for hours but came out a few times to visit. Since then, he has gotten so comfortable with us and even joined us on the bed for some cuddles. He has been showing interest in leaving his room but we want to take things slow and not overwhelm him.

Here’s a picture of him from last night’s cuddles. He is the perfect addition to our little family!

We’ll send you another update once he has explored the rest of his new home.

Thanks,

Claire, Mike, and little Leo.

Hi There.

We are very happy with Princess. She is very active, loves exploring and having her picture taken. Her favourite toys are a paper ball and her climber.

Thank - You.
