Jolene

Jolene

Hello,

Just over a week ago I took home a beautiful 4 year old cat named Winnie. The instant she stepped foot in my apartment she acted like she owned the place and made herself at home which is fantastic. After a week, I decided she was too sassy for a “Winnie” so she now goes by Jolene. I have a two year old cat named Crowley who was NOT a fan at first, but Jo’s quick charm is slowly winning him over. They now are able to share a window together. She is working (slowly but surely) on her climbing skills with a cat tree. She also likes to sleep on her back which I’ve never seen in a cat. She also likes to make sure I’m still alive several times a night, by meowing or stepping on my face, which is good. It was instant love, she is absolutely happy, and she is making my life so much better.

Life saver,

2014 was a horrible year for my family, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31 and had to under go a double mastectomy on March 14th 2014. If this wasn’t hard enough my dog “Nova” (a miniature dachshund) passed away on April 1st just weeks after my surgery. My whole family was heart broken. On July 30th 2014 I had my last chemo treatment and was feeling very depressed so the following day my husband decide to take me for a drive to the Toronto Humane Society just to look around. We ended up meeting “Antos” now known as “George”. He is the best thing that could have happened at that moment in my family’s life. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason and “George” was meant to be a part of our family. He became available for adoption 10 minutes before we walked through the doors. I never could have imagined a dog would show such devotion for his new family. He is now the team mascot for my sons baseball team and loves all the attention.

I want to thank the Toronto Humane Society, all the staff and volunteers for all that you do for these special animals.

Forever grateful
Dana,George & family!!!!!!!

Hi,

I adopted Tobias (formerly Peppermint) on July 1, 2014. I first saw Tobias on the THS website and was immediately stricken by his stunning looks. I went to THS to look at adopting another cat, but when I saw Tobias at the back of his cage staring out I knew he was the one for me. I was informed that he was undersocialized and by the looks of his cropped ear I deduced that he was a former TNR cat. Fortunately I was able to bring Tobias home that day. I spent weeks trying to coax him out from under my bed and earn his trust. It’s now been over a year since I adopted him and he has come a long way! He is very playful and cuddly with me and is now starting to let visitors pet him as well. I’m thrilled to have Tobias be a part of my life and I’m very thankful for all that THS staff and volunteers continue to do to support animals near and far!

Hi there!

Yesterday I adopted Ivory, now known as Ivy, and she has settled in easily. She has been a perfect lady about using her litter boxes, inside and outside of the cage. If she’s not flopped on her side somewhere, she’s running around like a maniac. She’s learning that walls are not for chewing but toys are. She is also dutifully accepting her current medications (something she is very opinionated about). Ivy has shown she is a very independent bunny so far, with lots of attitude and foot thumping when playtime is over (although she has spent almost all day today out of her cage). I can’t wait to see how she grows up!! Thanks so much for adopting her to me.
