Keeks Wells (alias Keeky) has adapted amazingly well to her new home with me. I am very pleased she is eating well. She is playing and also sits in my lap, loves her treats and is very playful. Her personality is similar to my other pet.

Keeky also has her rights and she will let you know by giving a peck on the hand if you are doing something she doesn’t like.

She is absolutely adorable and I love her very much.

Thank you,

William Wells

Lucy is absolutely thriving. We walk in the country with her off leash all the time, she stays very much in a comfortable radius (keeps an eye on us) and is really obedient about coming when called. So the fears of flight risk are disappearing. Still nervous on city streets but a tiny bit braver week by week. Not nervous at all in city park or beach with lots of people and dogs around. I may try private training sessions in the future but at this point it truly seems unnecessary as we are making progress day by day.

She is truly a brilliant dog and we feel blessed.

Lily

Lily

November 24, 2014

Lily was adopted into my home a couple months ago. My bunny Alfie needed a buddy so we made a visit to the Toronto Humane Society to let him meet some bunnies and hopefully a forever friend. Neil and the rest of the staff were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and kind as we looked at all the adorable bunnies. We decided to let the bunnies choose each other and after a first questionable bunny date we decided to try out timid Lily (Lillian at the time). With her sweet ruby eyes and little pink ears, it was impossible not to love her.

Luckily Alfie and Lily hit it off and in no time we were bringing her home with us. When we brought her home Lily was very timid and protective of her new home, not letting me encroach too much into her personal space. Over the next week she got a little more confident every day, permitting me to pet her for a bit longer before hopping away. Eventually she was confidently asking for pets and giving me adorable kisses in return. After about a week I decided it was time to start the bonding process between Alfie and Lily. It started off amazingly but with a couple mistakes of my own it ended up being a rocky and much longer process then I anticipated. Nonetheless I persevered.

Along the way Lily became more and more outgoing, hopping up on my lap for pets, giving more and more kisses and flopping blissfully. Eventually the two buns became best friends and I was able to finally let them live in their new home together. Its amazing to see the change not only in Lily but in Alfie, from having another bunny to share his life with. Lily has shown me just how much love she has to give by running up to me when I get home to cuddling beside me for pets and reciprocating with little bunny kisses. Bringing home the timid little ruby eyed bunny, I never realized just how much love and joy she would bring both Alfie and me.

Nala

Nala

Hello THS, I would like to update you on Laura Palmer, who we’ve renamed: Nala.

After adopting our two month old kitten Simba, we noticed that he could use a friend, and for my birthday, my boyfriend had decided to go out to THS, and adopt me a sweet, innocent kitten named Laura Palmer! Once he finally got her home, we put the carrier down, and she hissed at our little Simba. We were worried they would never get along, but that didn’t stop us from trying!

A week later, they were still fighting in front of us – always attacking each other, hissing, biting – it was very terrifying. But one day, we both got home, and there they were, cuddled up together, sleeping on the chair! Now they’re inseparable and always follow each other. You’ll never find one without the other, and we’re so very thankful that we had the opportunity to adopt such a sweet little lady!

I’ve attached a picture of the sweet moment I found them together, as well as a picture of little Nala.

Again, thank you so much!

Dear Toronto Humane Society / Neil,

It’s been a month since we adopted Greg and we’re happy to report that he is doing very well in his new home. He was quite shy in the beginning, but he has quickly warmed up to us - enjoying lots of pets and running around the living room. He especially likes spending time with his new friend, Lily. Here’s a picture of them enjoying some veggies together. Greg and Lily got along really well right from the start, and we are sure they’ll be a bonded pair in no time! Thank you so much for bringing him into our lives, he’s the perfect addition to our family!

I adopted “Ping-Pong” in September. He has been such a blessing in my life and I’m so happy that I was able to give him a permanent home and stable life grin he’s adjusted very quickly and Bruno is so easy to love. Thank you.

Derek is doing amazing in his new home. We’re so glad we got him. Derek was the result of just looking and reassuring ourselves that we were not getting another cat. However, we fell in love with his black face the moment we saw him. We adopted Derek 3 weeks ago and ever since we brought him home, we’ve fallen in love. He fits right in with our other cats and I’ve never seen a happier cat.

Hello everyone at THS!

It’s been a little more than a year since Franny joined our family, and we couldn’t be happier together!

She’s sweet and gentle, loyal and protective, funny and adorable. She’s very well-behaved and makes friends with people and pets wherever she goes, from the playground to the vet’s office.

Despite being a senior lady, she runs and plays like she’s still a puppy. She spent some time swimming in the lake and chasing ducks at the cottage this summer (with a lot of napping on the dock, too, of course).

She still loves her treats and snacks, but has been doing very well with her weight loss and looks fantastic!

We love her so so much, and are very grateful for all the care and attention she received while she was at THS. She’s a wonderful girl!

Many thanks,

Karen, Luke, and Franny

Coley

Coley

November 03, 2014

On September 29th 2014 my boyfriend Ryan and I adopted Coley from the Toronto Humane Society. Coley was moved from another shelter to the Humane Society so we assume he had been in a shelter for a long period of time. The woman who was helping us throughout the adoption process immediately knew that Coley would be the one for us when we told her we wanted a snuggly, friendly, interactive, and playful cat. Sure enough when we got introduced to him he was so friendly and would not stop purring. SInce we have had him home he STILL hasn’t stopped purring. Coley now has a wonderful life as an apartment cat where he has lots of food, warm beds, lots of toys, and TONS of love. Since he is our only fur baby he gets all of our attention and he loves it! We are so happy and blessed Coley has come into our lives as we cannot imagine life without him now. Being that Coley is 6 years old, we are so happy we are able to give him a second chance at an amazing life that he deserves.

Sincerely,
Jordan & Ryan

Josh

Josh

November 02, 2014

I got Josh from THS nearly 3 years ago. When I first saw him online I knew he was my dog. I kept track of him for a few months on the website and eventually went and picked him up. The drive home was very stressful for him and he was sick all the way to Ottawa. The transition was rocky with both a couch and chair being destroyed and some issues meeting new people and dogs. Over time, he has calmed down a great deal and loves to run around and play with his brother Frank and other dogs in the neighbourhood. He’s a completely different dog in so many ways. He is very smart, has a hilarious personality and is full of energy. He can STILL jump record heights, clearing the 5 foot fence on a few occasions in pursuit of squirrels (I remember being told that he would jump out of his kennel at THS). We have been through many ups and downs together, but I am so happy that I found Josh he has honestly been such an amazing companion and it has been great to witness the changes in him as well.
