Whiskey and Tequila

Whiskey and Tequila

September 12, 2014

Dear THS,

I adopted Whiskey and Tequila almost 7 years ago now and they still make me happy every day. I was looking for a bonded pair and they were so sweet, affectionate and cuddly.

When I brought them home they were quite shy at first - hiding behind the fridge and under the bed for almost a day. Soon they were past that though and they began insisting that I pet them and snuggle with them on the couch. To this day they sleep next to me in bed and greet me at the door whenever I get home - even if I have only been gone a few minutes.

Thanks again so much!

LJ

Alma

Hello THS.

In May 2013 my partner and I adopted our sweet Alma (11 years old) from you. We changed her name to Alma because she is literally the ‘soul’ of our home!

She adapted to our home very quickly and enjoys lots of cuddle time with her mommies. We established a routine with her where she gets brushed and pet every day while we watch movies or tv shows. It’s for sure her favourite part of the day.

We knew we wanted an old cat, but were unsure about how to choose our future pet, but a staff member at THS introduced us to Alma and thought we would be a good match. She was completely right and we are grateful we didn’t miss the chance to take Alma to our home. She brings so much joy and calmness to our days. She is a gentle and cute senior cat.

We are very happy and grateful we have her with us.

Hello THS,

We adopted “Dandelion” now renamed Wiedeman on June 10th, 2014. She was a 1 year old rescue cat who was shy but sweet. We have now had her 4 months and she is absolutely perfect! She is sweet, loving and every day she learns to trust us and becomes closer and closer. She loves to play with her soccer ball and curls up next to us on the couch every night!

We couldn’t be happier with this little gem! She’s absolutely perfect and we love her to pieces!

Thank you for all that you do!

Nicky

Suzanne and I are so grateful and appreciative of all the Toronto Humane Society did for us today in receiving our beloved Nicky (formerly Nicholas) into our loving home. We believe in synchronicity and it was synchronicity that led us to add our new family member to our home.

Amy was so good with us, explaining all the potential negatives, while accentuating the positives. In our hearts, we knew that Nicky was the dog for us and that he was going to be our little boy. Amy and her staff substantiated this. And the final result is, we’re home now with our beloved Nicky, and thoroughly enjoying his company as he settles into his new home. He’s adjusted quite quickly, including his off-limits area of the kitchen. He stops at the door and playfully rests his front paws “over the line”, so to speak, but knowing that he can watch, but not enter. He’s coming when he’s called. He’s playing with his toy (thank you for that donation). He’s totally responding to our love.

As we expected, he was so tired after a day of surprises and excitement. So now, he’s sacked out on the couch, only to raise his head briefly if we leave the room. I have yet to hear him bark. I almost want to create a situation just to hear what he sounds like!

So I send this email with a full sense of gratitude for Nicky, for you, and for all you do! Thank you!!

Please enjoy the attached pictures. As we mentioned to Amy, we’d already set up a stool for Nicky to perch on as he watched all the goings-on outside our window. That’s his spot, to keep an eye out for all that’s happening in our neighborhood, and he seems to be really enjoying that opportunity.

Blessings to you!

Gareth and Suzanne Marples

Dexter

Dexter

September 02, 2014

Dear THS,

It’s only about the second day we have had Dexter and he is completely amazing. I fell in love with him the first day I saw him at the Toronto Humane Society.

I was told that he is very high energy (which is completely true) and his high prey drive, which I don’t see much of, already I have taken him on multiple walks where he has watched squirrels run around and even a cat ran right in front of him last night, and I just make him sit and stay and that is what he does, even when small dogs on other leashes start charging and barking at him! Dexter, I can already see has great self control!

He is huge but soo cuddly as well, he falls asleep with his head laying on me in my bed! Also, he is already getting along quite well with my other dog even though at THS it was in his description as preferrably the only dog in the home!

We already have him going right into his crate to sleep and in the morning before we leave, and he is always waiting for my return from school. He doesn’t have to wait long though! As of now he is only waiting 3-4 hours a day, which is already helping him know that I’m always going to return for him. Dexter is truely an amazing and lovable dog with great self control and amazing potential!
