Say hello to Ziggy!

He is the love of my life. I could not have asked for a better dog. The first two weeks were some of the most challenging and exhausting of my life but he’s an absolute gem. We have really bonded and I look forward to our days ahead smile

Shelley has taken to her new home like a champ. She ate, used her litter and started playing with her ball, all in the first half hour. She is exploring one floor at a time, and right now is happy and safe in the basement! She even had a good sleep in her new bed.

Thank you for our new family member!

Ralph and Chubbs

Ralph and Chubbs

Ralph & Chubbs,

About 1 month ago, my boyfriend and I adopted Ralph (3 years old) and Chubbs (2 months old) and it was the best thing I ever could have done. Ralph was one of the favourites of the shelter and everyone was very sad to see him leave and now I know why, he is such a special cat in so many ways. He also has a skin disease and since he’s been home with us, it has pretty much vanished! It’s amazing what a loving home can really do! My little one Chubbs is just a lovable and playful kitten, and he loves his new big brother Ralph. My boyfriend and I were worried at first how they would get along but it was love at first sight!

Anyone thinking of getting an animal really should think about getting them from the shelter, you’re saving a precious life and the love you will receive is unbelievable!

Maverick

Maverick

Dear THS,

We adopted our dog Maverick (his original name was Logan) back in March when he was around 10 months old, he is a Border Collie X Blue Heeler. We were told at the time of adoption that he had past aggression and was brought to the humane society because he bit his previous owner. We were also warned that he showed possessiveness over pretty much anything he thought was his.

I am very very pleased to say that with a lot of patience and hard work Maverick is now the dog of our dreams! We personally have never had any aggression issues with him, and as for the possessiveness we learned to curb his bad tendencies into more productive behaviours. That being said - he was an untrained puppy when we got him so a few shoes didn’t make it wink

The information packages and print outs that you gave us were extremely helpful! We have learned how important exercise and mind stimulation is to Mavericks wellbeing. He loves to go for bike rides, to the dog park, swimming, explore the forest, and LOVES to do tricks. I am happy to say that out of all of the dogs I have owned, Maverick is the most obedient and loves to put on a show for our friends and family.

We just wanted to say thank you for everything and for introducing us to our new best friend!

Sparta

Sparta

Dear THS,

After moving in with my boyfriend, I had to leave my dog, Nemo, with my parents, because a big dog, full of energy, wasn’t fit for apartment life. I was broken hearted until Bryan brought up the idea to get a cat, and instantly, I knew where we would go. After previously adopting animals from the Toronto Humane Society, I knew the process very well. Walking in, we had a cat in mind, but unfortunately, the room was closed off and we couldn’t view him right away. While we waited to be view by the adoption team, we walked around and poked our fingers in cages, petting the sweethearts we viewed. Then, we looked down to Dalton’s cage. We couldn’t see him at first, so we stood there and waited. He poked out his little head, and I instantly fell in love with him.

Bringing him home, we noticed one thing: He was perfect. He didn’t do what we expected. We were waiting for the worse: him to be afraid of us, to attack my boyfriend’s cat Smokey, or worse, to refuse to eat, but he didn’t do any of that.

We decided to rename him Sparta, and we are so thrilled to have such a wonderful addition to our little family.

Thank you again so much,

-Danielle, Bryan & Sparta
