Scamp

Scamp

March 23, 2014

Our cat Scamp had been missing for six agonizing months!

Then one lucky day, we received a call from Pet Watch. They keep all the data from all the micro chipped pets.
We were told that a wonderful, kind person rescued our cat from a cold wintery street corner and brought him to a shelter to be scanned. That he was safe and alive and ready to return home.

Please get your animal micro chipped as a precaution. You just never know.

Three Nice Mice

March 23, 2014

I am happy to report that the adoption of these three absolutely sweet mice from the Toronto Humane Society has been an absolute delight! We’re having a lot of fun getting to know their little quirky personalities. They are full of excitement, curiosity and absolutely fearless! They love attention and with faces like theirs it’s impossible to say no! I am sooo happy that the Humane Society gave them a loving home until we were able to bring them into our home. I don’t really have any pictures (I guess too busy playing with them). I’ll take some soon and send them in.

Thanks again!

Cheddar and Monterey Jack

Cheddar and Monterey Jack

March 23, 2014

Hi there, we wanted to share with you a little success story of our little mice, Cheddar and Monterey Jack.

We saw them on the Humane Society website when they were one month old, and decided we are ready to give a pair of cuties a warm home. We went to the site and observed them for a half an hour, trying to determine which pair likes each other very much, so they would enjoy each others company in a new place.

We chose Cheddar and Monterey Jack. We did not change names since we thought these are perfect! Both guys warmed up to us right away. From the first day, they walked into our hands, and climbed our legs, arms, shoulders, and backs, like they knew us from birth.

They never scratch or bite people, and feel comfortable enough just to sit on our laps and clean themselves. Cheddar and Monterey Jack also really like the climbing equipment in their enclosure, and it took the boys only few days to learn to use water bottle.

Another thing they like to do is digging. Such warm, cute and adventurous guys! We are so happy with our adoption. smile

Sheldon

March 22, 2014

Dear Toronto Humane Society,

I have been meaning to write to you for quite awhile now to let you know that Toby (Sheldon now!) has settled into his new home and has wormed his way into the hearts of my entire family. I adopted him in the fall of 2012 and have since returned to Ottawa. He adores his new home and has even learned to love my family’s two dogs.

He is truly the sweetest cat I have ever met and has converted even the most stubborn people into cat lovers. He follows me everywhere and I am thankful for him every day.

Thank you, THS!

Dana

Huckleberry

Huckleberry

March 20, 2014

Our new family member Huckleberry is getting accustomed to his new home with lots of energy. As you can see, he loves a good tummy rub!

Like a husky, he loves laying in the snow and getting all wet rolling around in it chasing after the ball.

We’re very happy to have adopted him and we are currently teaching him to be a gentle playmate.

Thank you THS!

Shadow

Shadow

Hi everyone at the THS!

I just wanted to write you all and let you know how our furry friend is doing at her forever home.

Our family adopted Shadow late October of 2013. When first adopting her, we were unsure how affectionate the 10 year old cat would be, but our family was very pleased to have her jumping onto our laps, purring and wanting to be by our sides almost constantly.

Shadow adjusted quickly to her new home and became an important part of our family.

She loves to lie beside us on the couch, is very talkative in the morning and sometimes enjoys jumping up on our beds to sleep next to us during the night.

It’s become a little bit of a joke in our family how often Shadow likes being brushed. We probably brush her 4 times a day. She will come up to us, meowing loudly and will begin to rub her chin on the brush where we keep it by the coffee table. She is definitely spoiled, but we just can’t help ourselves!

We love Shadow so much and we’re just so thankful for how much joy she has brought into our home. We just wanted to thank all of you for helping us find her!

Gracie

Gracie

March 15, 2014

Dear THS Staff,

I adopted Chantel (a stray dog transferred to THS from Kawartha Lakes), now Gracie, two and a half years ago in October 2011. The day I went to the THS, I was there to specifically see a purebred chocolate Lab named Ranmaru. Upon arriving, a staff member advised me that Ranmaru needed a very experienced owner and after seeing him, I realized he was not the dog for me. Disappointed, I decided to view the adoptable dogs anyway, and that is when I stumbled upon Gracie. She was curled up on the floor in a little ball and she didn’t even lift her head when I peered into the kennel. When the lady brought Gracie into the meeting area, she immediately flopped on her back and looked up at me with the sweetest face I’ve ever seen –she was a totally different dog outside of those walls – sweet, gentle and docile – I knew she was the one for me!

Since that day, Gracie has not left my side – she is my shadow and a real “under the foot” kind of dog. Her favourite things include daily walks through Sherwood Park Ravine, chasing squirrels, running like the wind after remote controlled cars, jumping on the back of toboggans to ride down the hill, and flopping on her back for tummy rubs. Gracie has many admirers; people are always stopping us on the street to comment on how cute she is, saying that she either looks like a puppy or that she looks like a sweet senior dog.
I believe that Gracie knows that she is lucky to have been rescued, but really, I am the lucky one. I’ve been blessed with the most gentle and laid back dog who is my constant companion and friend.

Thank you THS Staff for taking such good care of my sweet girl and for your help throughout the foster and adoption process.

Mr. Whiskers

Mr. Whiskers

March 15, 2014

My kitten, who is now about fully grown, is a true Bundle of Joy! He brings a happiness and a peace to my soul that is nearly palpable.

Please share these shot of Mr. Whiskers, (formerly called “Wesley”) with the Feline department staff. I am sure they would be interested in seeing them, especially Lynn Angus, the staffer who helped me through the adoption process.

Much thanks to ALL at THS for their great work.

Thank you.

Leslie and Pawnee

Leslie and Pawnee

Hi Kimberly!

Leslie and Pawnee are doing fantastic! They’re both adjusting so well! Leslie is as friendly as always and has a newfound favorite hiding spot. My hoods! Whenever I have the girls out and I have a hoodie on, Leslie insists on going into it and cuddling. It’s so cute. Pawnee has really come a long way. She went from hiding at the blink of an eye to sniffing at the cage when I come into the room and coming to the cage door when I open it. It’s such a big accomplishment for her and I’m so proud!

Thanks so much for all of your help and support, I really appreciate it!

-Natalie

P.S. Here are some pics of us in our lovely new home!
