Mickey and Nina

Mickey and Nina

July 05, 2019

It’s been about 48 hours since we’ve brought Mickey and Nina home and they immediately made themselves comfortable. They love lounging on our bed (and sneakily trying to find a way under it.) Nina is so curious and adventurous. It took her no time to walk around everywhere in the bedroom. This morning we let them explore the full apartment and they took it in strides. They’re acting like royalty here and we’re treating them as such.

It feels like they’ve been here so much longer. They took to our place and were instantly comfortable with us near/handling them, we think we’ve found our soul mates in cat form.

We am so grateful to everyone at the Toronto Humane Society for helping us find them. Everyone we interacted with was so pleasant, and we would like to give an extra big thank you to the staff for going above and beyond every time we were there!

We aim to give Mickey and Nina the best forever home we can. Thank you so so much!

Joe

Joe

June 28, 2019

Joe has settled in really well, he has boundless energy and is so playful! He never wants to stop and loves his wand toys, balls, the laser pointer…basically, he loves everything!

His sister Chelsie (also adopted from THS in Fall 2017) was less than thrilled when he arrived but is slowly warming up to him. He always wants to play with her but she sets him straight if she’s not in the mood! He also loves gazing out the windows and most days he watches for me when I come home from work.

As he is settling in, Joe is becoming more and more affectionate…turns out he’s a real softie. I’m so grateful to THS for all you do, and for giving me the opportunity to give Joe a forever home!

Penny and Grace

Penny and Grace

June 14, 2019

Penny and Grace (formerly Ego and Yondu)

I began fostering to adopt Penny and Grace back in August of last year and officially adopted them back in February!

These adorable sisters are very special. They came to the Toronto Humane Society with infections that resulted in Grace losing both of her back paws and Penny losing a portion of her hind leg. They were wearing prosthetics for a little bit but now fully function without the use of them and are able to jump, run, play and live their best lives. They both love to cuddle, have their long beautiful fur brushed and are very affectionate. Penny is very social with Grace being a bit more reserved. With more sunny days now they both love spending the day by the window relaxing in the sunshine.

They bring so much love and happiness to my life and I’m so grateful I adopted Penny and Grace. Thank you so much to the Toronto Humane Society for saving these two very special kitties and for all the help and support from the amazing staff.

Ser Pounce

Ser Pounce

June 07, 2019

I wanted to share my Happy Tail as it’s been 1 month now since Ser Pounce (formerly Nugget) came home with me!

When I ended school I stopped by THS knowing I wanted to adopt a cat and fell in love with this vocal chunky boy but he was still under testing and not yet available for adoption. I went home empty handed but came back the next day and it turns out Nugget was available and free to come home with me!

The sweetest boy ever (@SerPounceOfHouseSlaughter on Instagram), I renamed after Tommen Baratheon’s cat in game of thrones who now sits solo on the iron throne and rules over my entire one bedroom apartment. Like many cats, Ser Pounce craves 3 things: food, attention and lots of play. When he is wants attention he WILL let you know by meowing and getting up in your face, and if you ignore him too long or are running late with his breakfast he will give you a playful paw to wake you up.

He is a very chunky boy but with his new meal plan and active play he has lost about 2 pounds this month (over 10% of his body weight!) and his vet is pleased with his progress so. Though his extra chonk never stops him from finding a good perch or limit his impeccable pounce capabilities. Ser

Pounce really is the sweetest companion and has the funniest personality, I couldn’t ask for a better cat as my first ever pet and THS made the process super straightforward and were so helpful along the way!

Gouda and Feta

Gouda and Feta

May 31, 2019

Gouda is a timid boy who prefers to hang out, where Feta is just a bundle of adventure. The second I walk in the room in the morning they’re both on their hind feet for morning loves. Feta is immediately at the door begging to be let out and when shes out, shes off!! Her first place is always straight for the dogs food, which funny enough, is on the opposite side of the apartment. Then she hopes all the way back to the living room, then back to the kitchen. We refer to it as “doing her laps” Usually the kitten joins her and they just chase each other back and forth.

Gouda, as I mentioned, is a timid boy. He is definitely becoming a mamas boy. If hes hiding I just need to shake the cheerios and hes right at my feet. He was very eager to be reunited with his sister when she came home. He chewed the separating barrier open so he could get to her. He was a little too excited so I had to play it slow for her, but now, they love each other so much, they are often found snuggling and grooming. He is quickly following the habits of the dog here as well. Both boys love to sleep on my fleece blanket on the bed.

Langley

Langley

May 23, 2019

We want to thank everyone for helping us find our dream pet. We adopted Langley just a few months ago and he has been such a great addition to our family.

We’ve been working on command training and recall. He now knows “wait”, “sit”, “paw”, his name and has been getting some off leash time by the pond near our house!

He’s so wonderful and we just wanted to share how happy he is! Thank you THS for everything.

Silky

I adopted Silky a week ago and just wanted to send an update to let you know that both of us are very happy. She has made herself right at home and seems to be doing well, thanks for all your help.

Suika

Suika

May 15, 2019

Big Easy’s new name is Suika which mean watermelon in japanese (because she is so sweet and big like watermelon)

She settled in surprisingly quickly. On the next day, she was sleeping on her back on the middle of our bed and eating well but not crazily and asking more. We play with her everyday and she loves her toy.

We even got a harness so we can take her for little walk when the weather get nice! If walking became successful, we would love to take her to visit THS!

King George

King George

May 10, 2019

King George has been in our family for 7 months now! He gets along well with his feline brother, Eli. He spends most of his days cuddling us in bed, playing with balls, meeting new doggo friends at the park, go to breweries and getting attention from strangers. These past few months he’s completed dog training and has started swimming lessons! Adopting him was one of the greatest decisions, we love him to bits!

Scarlett

Scarlett

May 03, 2019

I owe Dr. Travis Strong and the staff at THS a huge thank you for saving and caring for Scarlett (formerly Starlett) while she was in receiving medical assistance.

I first met Scarlett in late January when I came in for my weekly shift as a canine enrichment volunteer. When I took her out she was a bit nervous but was very gentle and calm! I thought she would be adopted out in no time so I was genuinely surprised to see her again when I returned. I took her out again and after a few belly rubs, she slowly placed her paw on my wrist. I decided to ask about her and the staff at the adoption department was very helpful. Thank you Dr. Strong and THS for not giving up on her and provided all the necessary medical care. It’s been almost 3 months since she came to my life and I am thrilled to announce that she’s now a perfectly healthy pooch. She is spoiled rotten by me and my husband. Thanks again THS!
