The Toronto Humane Society values its history of partnering with volunteers to achieve its mission of promoting the humane care and protection of all animals and to prevent cruelty and suffering. It is with this dedication and support from over 400 hundred volunteers, that we are able to provide essential enrichment to the animals in our shelter. Our various volunteer positions allow for an opportunity to help animals in need, learn about proper care, and give back to the community.
We are very fortunate to have a strong group of volunteers who dedicate their time to us; however this means that we don't often have openings available. When we are in need of more individuals to join our team, applications will be posted online below the volunteer opportunity. It is common for this to be only once or twice a year given the large amount of applications we receive. We thank you for your patience in this process and welcome and encourage committed individuals to apply when positions become available.
Adoptions are our speciality, and we have lots of interested individuals and families looking around for their new furry companion. Volunteers in this role help the process run smoothly by answering questions about animals, the adoption process, and keeping an eye out on the adoption floor.
