Giving Tuesday, which takes place on November 29th 2016, is described as the ‘opening day of the Giving Season’. It’s a time for Canadians to come together and support their communities.
It is also a day for us to kick off our Hope for the Holidays campaign here at the shelter! Our Hope for the Holidays campaign raises funds and awareness for the animals in our shelter, especially those who have been with us for a long a time and who we want to be in a loving, forever home in time for the holiday season!
We’ve got a whole bunch of fun ways for you to get involved and help homeless pets at our shelter, so please read on!

PawItForward Donation Drive
Bring the spirit of giving to your workplace on Giving Tuesday! Why not host a donation drive for the animals?
Bring a box and ask your colleagues to bring an item in to donate. You can use our Hope For the Holidays poster to let everyone know about your donation drive. Download our poster, type in the details, and print/email it to your coworkers to get everyone involved. We are always looking for:

Pen Pals for Pets
We have a number of dogs, cats and small pets who have been at the shelter for a long time! This year, to raise awareness for our long-term residents, we’re asking kids to be a Pen Pal to a homeless pet at the Toronto Humane Society. Here’s how it works:
