Cat advocates

Feline Services Coordinators are here at the shelter as cat advocates. They find ways to reduce the discomfort and stress the cats experience while staying in the shelter.

But the bulk of their time is spent assessing the temperaments of incoming cats and working to find solutions to problem behaviours, as well as working with cats who have not been socialized. They assess the cats outside of the cage, spend time with them, and liaise with previous owners, foster parents, and vets—all in an effort to help ensure the right cats get matched with the right families!

They also provide information on what type of home may be best suited for a particular cat and what the new family can expect when they get the cat home. Most people also benefit from learning the best way to introduce their adopted cat to their home and other pets.

As well, they provide ongoing support for people who have adopted cats and have questions regarding care or behaviour issues.
