The Toronto Humane Society and Toronto Crime Stoppers have an ongoing partnership to aid in the investigation of animal cruelty

Admissions

ADMISSION RULES

  • Lost pets and injured wild animals and birds may be brought to the shelter and admitted without prior appointment.  
  • Non-feral cats (cats that can be handled) out in a neighbourhood are either privately owned by a neighbour or are under a neighbour’s care. They are not “lost” and must not be brought to the shelter for admission without prior telephone approval from the shelter manager.  
  • Feral cats (wild cats that can’t be handled) must not be brought to the shelter for adoption. They may be admitted for spay/neuter release with prior telephone approval from the shelter manager.  
  • Uninjured baby wild animals and birds will not be admitted unless there are unusual circumstances (i.e. the mother has been killed), and must be left where they were found. They are under their mother’s care and should not be taken from her.  
  • Privately owned pets must not be brought to the shelter without prior telephone approval from the shelter manager.
